Acne Scar Removal

Acne Scars Can Be Treated!

Dr. Jeffrey Sabatino offers state-of-the-art treatments for acne scars. The method that is used depends on the type of scar being treated. There are three different acne scar types: Boxcar, Rolling and Ice Pick

Boxcar Scars: Typically round shaped depressions that have steep sides with sharply defined edges. They make the skin look pitted.
Rolling Scars: Depressed scars similar to Boxcar Scars, but they have soft edges and look like tiny hills and valleys.
Ice Pick Scars: Small, deep scars that look like the skin was pierced with a sharp instrument.

Treatments offered include:

Radio Frequency Microneedling: this treatment encourages your body to make new collagen, which will help restore youthful characteristics to your skin and help minimize the appearance of scars.

Dermal Fillers: can be used safely and effectively to plump depressed acne scars. We offer fillers that are considered both temporary (which usually last between 6 and 18 months) and permanent.

Subcision: a minor surgical procedure which is performed to help elevate the bottom of the scar and make the scar easier to treat with other modalities.

TCA CROSS: a procedure where medicine is applied directly to the scar, which causes inflammation. This inflammation can help the skin produce new collagen and improve the appearance of a scar.

Broadband Light: a light based treatment used to help address uneven skin color which can occur with acne scarring.

Laser Resurfacing: lasers eliminate unwanted color and stimulate the growth of new skin cells. They work great for treating acne scars that are uniform in depth.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be able to go to work after I have had treatment?

Most patients find that they are able to work with minimal distraction from their treatments.

How often will I need to return for treatments?

Although each patient’s treatment plan is unique, many procedures will work well if given four weeks between treatments.

What will my skin look like after treatment?

Some treatments will have no visible signs on the skin that a procedure has been done. Many will produce redness similar to a mild sunburn that heals over several days. The most aggressive treatments may produce redness that takes several weeks to heal.

I have been told that there is nothing that can be done by my dermatologist. Why are you saying something different?

The answer comes down to two main issues. There are very few offices in the country that have been trained in the number of necessary techniques and that own the wide variety of equipment needed to do great work with acne scars. At Milwaukee Laser & Body Aesthetics, we have chosen to make the investment in both training and equipment because we are passionate about helping people feel better about themselves.

The first step in a safe and effective treatment begins with a consultation. During the consultation, a medical evaluation of your acne scars will be done to identify what types of scars you have and determine your treatment options. With your help, we will design a treatment plan that is best suited to your needs. At Milwaukee Laser & Body Aesthetics, we understand how difficult it can be to deal with acne scars. Let us help erase the scars that acne left behind.
